Job Description:

Sierra International Machinery is seeking a skilled and experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic team. The Welder/Fabricator will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process, ensuring the production of high-quality balers and shears that meet our strict standards of durability and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Welding and Fabrication: Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to assemble components and structures according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Fabricate and manipulate metal parts, ensuring accurate measurements and precision in cutting, bending, and shaping.
  • Equipment Setup: Set up and prepare welding equipment, tools, and materials required for each project. Maintain welding machines, ensuring they are in good working condition and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of welded parts and fabricated assemblies to ensure they meet Sierra International Machinery's quality standards. Identify and rectify any welding defects or inconsistencies to maintain the highest level of craftsmanship.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and production teams to understand project requirements and provide input on design improvements or modifications. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized work area, following best practices for safe material handling and disposal.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of welding activities, including materials used, project progress, and any issues encountered. Provide detailed reports and documentation as required by the company.

Requirements:

  • Welding Expertise: A minimum of 1 year of experience (with welding certificate) in welding and fabrication, with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques. Experience with stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel is preferred.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately assemble and fabricate parts.
  • Metal Fabrication Skills: Strong skills in metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, shaping, and finishing. Proficiency in using a variety of fabrication tools and equipment such as torches, grinders, and plasma cutters.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise measurements, proper alignment, and high-quality welds. Ability to identify and correct welding defects.
  • Safety Consciousness: Thorough knowledge of welding safety practices and procedures. Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with team members from various departments to achieve production goals.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications: Relevant welding certifications (e.g., AWS certification) and vocational training in welding or fabrication are highly desirable.
